A report published in February 2020 by the WHO-UNICEF-Lancet Commission calls for a legally binding protocol to be added to the CRC so that countries can work together to prohibit children-targeted junk food marketing.

Page: Connecting Community Food Enterprises Case Study: Stafford Hall Pantry

Stafford Hall Pantry is a collaborative project operating in the London Borough of Waltham Forest. It opens once a week in a community hub and has on average 20 members attending, including supporting the local population of asylum seekers housed in dispersed accomodation. The are exploring introducing a solidarity model of tiered pricing, to help fund provision of more planet-friendly and ethical produce and subsidise the food for those that need it.

They highlighted missed opportunities for accessing land for food growing, and for increasing climate-friendly food via the school meals programme funded by the Mayor of London.

Reports: Briefing: Public Sector Catering - opportunities and issues relating to sustainable food procurement

This briefing paper - examining opportunities and issues relating to sustainable food procurement in the public sector - is one of several on themes relating to Sustainable Food Chains. It formed part of an initiative started by Sustain in 2002, to promote local and sustainable food. The aim of the Sustainable Food Chains project was to help British farming and sustainable production following the devastating effects on farming and the rural economy of foot and mouth disease. The work also informed development of Sustain's successful Good Food on the Plate project, which helped public sector institutions buy and serve healthier and more sustainable food.
